Conclusion
SOCIETY – families
and communities first!
We believe
in a healthy and just society guided by the principles of respect,
honesty, integrity, manners and fair play. We shall re-establish the
family as the basic and natural unit of society and encourage the
institution of marriage with tax-breaks and the return of the Married
Man’s Allowance to help ensure that all children are brought up in
stable families with both a mother and father. We believe that the
Christian values that have grown out of our country over centuries are
fundamental and must be safeguarded and respected if we are morally and
socially to survive the great technological changes of the modern era.
We shall foster honour and integrity in the new generations by an
educational curriculum promoting excellence and deference, and will
discourage the modern practice of excessive permissiveness among the
young that has lead to so many social and behavioural problems in our
towns and cities. We will put a stop to the wholesale immigration that
has imbalanced and divided so many of our communities, and introduce a
limited quota system based on significant national economic need,
requiring full English literacy in all new immigrants, and the
presumption that they will change to accommodate our culture, not the
other way around. In the case of asylum-seekers, we shall follow our
obligations under the U.N. Charter for Refugees, and accept only those
for whom Britain is the ‘nearest safe country’, on condition that they
too learn our language and adapt to our culture. We shall end the
absurdities of political correctness and seek to foster mutual respect
and pride among all British subjects.
INDEPENDENCE
– Britain, a nation not a province!
There can
be no compromise on national sovereignty – we are either independent or
we are not! At present, the unelected and completely unaccountable
European Commission has primacy over our own national parliament and
elected representatives – we say that this is a disenfranchisement on a
colossal scale and it must be reversed. Joining the Euro, too, would
also entail giving away Britain’s power to set Her own interest rates –
a vital tool for managing our own economy for our own benefit. We shall
therefore withdraw from all E.U. treaties that usurp the power of our
sovereign parliament and keep (or restore, if necessary) the pound as
our national currency. Our withdrawal from the European Union will not
only allow us to develop bilateral trade agreements with the remaining
E.U. countries, as Norway and Switzerland are successfully doing, but
also give us unfetted access to the growing economies of China, India
and the Far East. We will revoke all unnecessary ‘harmonisation’ laws
forced on us by the E.U., and revert to Britain’s traditional systems of
measurement and practice. We believe in a strong, independent Europe of
friendly nation states, but not in the sprawling, undemocratic, corrupt,
bureaucratic circus the European Union has become. After leaving the
E.U. as a trading area, we shall seek to foster stronger economic ties
with the Commonwealth dominions of Canada, Australia and New Zealand,
with which we have great historic and cultural ties. We shall also
ensure Britain’s integrity against the influences of large multinational
companies – the good of our country cannot be bought or sold!
PUBLIC
SERVICES – reform, investment and renewal!
Health – Both prevention and cure!
The NHS is both understaffed and overstretched. Our
solution to this problem must therefore be two-fold: firstly, we would
implement a huge recruitment drive for new doctors and nurses, offering
fair salaries that acknowledge the essentialness of the jobs they do.
Secondly, we would embark on a campaign of preventative medicine,
offering everyone comprehensive and free health checks every 5 years to
identify health problems early on and treat them more efficiently and
effectively. We would also introduce general health as part of schools’
curricula. As the effects of this policy become apparent, there will be
greatly decreased strain on the NHS and Britain would become a
healthier, happier nation. We believe that healthcare should be free at
the point of delivery, and would phase out all charges for medication
and dentistry whilst money is saved via prevention. We will stop
poisoning our water with fluorides and other unnecessary chemicals, the
benefits of which are often spurious and the harms well-documented, and
will remove the poorly-researched and unnecessary risk of G.M. products
from our fields and our food chain. As the danger of widespread
antibiotic resistance looms ever closer, the use of antibiotics in
farming will be ended.
Transport – A genuinely comprehensive
network!
At the turn of the 19th century, Britain had
the most comprehensive and fastest railway network in the world. Now, at
the start of the 21st century, we have one of the worst in
Europe! As privatisation has clearly proven an expensive failure, we
believe that the national network must be taken back into public
ownership. Public transport should be an integrated system; we will
build interconnecting monorail and tram routes to all railway and bus
stations, and ensure that every substantial town has train station. As
well as by improvements to public transport, congestion on the roads
will be eased by new lorry-only toll roads for goods vehicles, expanding
the breath of our major motorways and reopening canals as an economic
and more environmentally-friendly means to transport goods across the
country. We shall also reinvigorate our rail freight system – a far more
efficient means of transporting goods than the roads – after the
destruction it endured at the hands of road-company-share-holder, Dr.
Beeching, and fully integrate this with the country’s freight docks.
Education – A system to improve
individuals and society!
Our schools are failing our children.
Standards drop year after year and antisocial behaviour amongst the
young, particularly in less prosperous areas, has skyrocketed. We must
return to an education system that teaches respect and decency, along
with excellent and diligence in study. We shall return to teachers the
right to discipline unruly pupils,in the beginning we will provide schools with security
guards and CCTV monitoring to reassure staff and pupils alike of their
safety, deterring the violence against teachers by some pupils that is
reported so often nowadays until respect is once more a key word in our schools. Our schools should ground all children in a
traditional varied curriculum, along with lessons teaching good health
and responsibility to society. We will scrap New Labour’s unworkable
target of 50% University attendance, along with the various worthless
degree ‘subjects’ it has brought with it. Universities will be restored
as the places of excellence for the academically best, and all other
pupils shall start learning a chosen trade or profession from the start
of secondary school. Thus, no-one will be unemployable upon leaving
full-time education. We will not allow standards in education to slip as
they have over the past decades, and pupils who fail to reach the
national minimum standard in any year of school will be required to
repeat that year until they pass. We would make out-door pursuit summer
camps available to all 10- to 15-year-olds to help overcome the
worsening problem of obesity in the young and to foster discipline and
teamwork skills in our young.
CRIME – No more
‘soft options’!
Under the
Imperial Party, criminals will learn to think twice. They will be put to
useful work in prisons, rather than lounging around at the taxpayers’
expense in front of televisions in their cells, as they do today.
Sentences for crimes such as theft will be linked to repayments to the
victims, and criminals will go free only when they have righted their
own wrong. Hard labour will be reintroduced for more serious offences,
and new hard labour prisons will be built from which offenders can carry
out useful work for society such as building new roads, flood defences
and reservoirs. The death penalty will be brought back as an option for
the most serious offences, such as murder and drug-trafficking.
THE LAW –
Guaranteeing our rights!
Britain’s
ancient constitution and Common Law can be traced as the source or
inspiration for almost every democracy in the world today. However, we
believe that it would be clarified and strengthened by the creation of a
simple and unequivocal Bill of Rights guaranteeing our essential and
hard-fought-for freedoms without admitting perverse legal
interpretations that go against their spirit. We will repeal the vast
swathes of unnecessary laws forced on us by European directives, and
unclog our legal system of those laws made redundant by the new Bill of
Rights. The Sovereign, as the source of all legislative power in our
country, must play a much more active role in defending our fundamental
rights from over-ambitious governments and usurping and presidential
prime ministers like Mr. Blair, as She solemnly swore to do in Her
coronation oath. We will free Her Majesty from the shackles of recent
custom and give Her a real veto to protect and secure our rights and
freedoms over the politicised legislature, forcing the politicians and
law-makers to work in a more responsible and equitable way.
TAX – A fairer system
for all!
Under an
Imperial Party government there would neither be tax-avoiders nor
tax-victims. A single flat income tax of 25% will keep the treasury full
and could reasonably be met by all sections of society. Council tax
rises would be capped at the inflationary rate and limited to one rise
every three years – putting an end to the unneeded frippery, empty
bureaucratic consultations and self-aggrandising schemes we see from so
many town halls today, and forcing councils to spend their (or rather,
our!) money where it is actually needed.it would be necessary to trim back on the millions of council workers who do little in the way of work. We would shave 2.5% from VAT to
compensate for a new Personal Added Tax (PAT), which would be aggregated
on an individual level with all purchases (using a swipe-card) and held
by the government, which would provide base-rate interest, until
retirement, whereupon every individual would be guaranteed a liveable
pension. We also propose an environmental tax, payable on arrival, for
all foreign Lorries and goods vehicles driving in the UK.
PENSIONERS –
making a life’s working’s worthwhile!
In New
Labour’s ‘Cool Britannia’ of today, many of our pensioners are forced to
live in appallingly substandard conditions, frequently on a downright
inadequate pension. Many of these people fought for our freedom and
independence in the war, yet rarely have recent governments appeared to
have considered them a priority at all. With the Imperial Party
controlling Westminster, all over-60s will be entitled to exemption from
council tax, heating bills, television licences, road tax, bus and tram
fares and road tax. Special reduced-rent housing for over-60s only will
be built for those who want it, and care homes should and will be
provided free as part of the NHS. All pensioners requesting it will
receive a liveable, non-means-tested pension, and we shall restore the
link with earnings for those as yet not retired. Within a few decades,
our Personal Added Tax (PAT) policy will ensure that pensions will
remain sustainable and that there will be no ‘crash’.
ENVIRONMENT –
Keeping our land green and pleasant!
We are
committed as a party to keeping the environment clean and beautiful.
Pollution laws will be strictly enforced and planning laws tightened.
All new houses will have to incorporate forms of renewable energy such
as solar panels and wind turbines, as well as efficient insulation. We
shall build environmentally-friendly power plants running on ‘green
power’ crops such as willow and hemp, and invest heavily in wind and
tidal generators, as well as in research into more efficient ways of
generating renewable power.hydrogen for instance, Government grants will fund research into
electric and hydrogen-driven vehicles, with the eventual aim of phasing
out the use of petrol and diesel engines on our roads. New reservoirs
will safeguard the UK against likely future water shortages, and the use
of ground-leeching artificial fertilisers will be phased out in favour
of naturally-sourced alternatives.
COUNTRYSIDE –
Preserving the rural way of life!
The
Imperial Party recognises the needs of rural Britain. A nation’s farming
industry is a nation heart, and, in government, we would set up a new
Agricultural Commission to ensure the farmers are paid a fair price for
their produce and cannot be undercut by cheap imports. We would
encourage farmers to switch to organic methods, replant hedgerows and
grow cheap and useful ‘green power’ crops on unused land. We will repeal
unjust and spiteful laws banning traditional country sports, and protect
our precious green spaces from short-sighted developers with tougher
planning regulations.
BUSINESS & INDUSTRY – safeguarding jobs, encouraging innovation!
Our heavy
and light industries have always been an anchor of our economy. We will
rejuvenate our industries by the studious use of tax-breaks and
incentives to encourage efficiency, considerable investment in modern
training methods and industrial research and development, and
shorter-term loans and grants to bolster employment in our industrial
section and ensure future sustainability.
Entrepreneurs are the life-giving force of any successful economy, and
under an Imperial Party administration these enterprising individuals
would be supported and encouraged. We will institute ‘new business
panels’ across the country, to which those wanting to start a new
business may present their commercial ideas; if considered likely to be
commercially viable, such new businesses would qualify for grants to
help them achieve success.
Britain’s economic success and prosperity depends on Her businesses
being beneficial to Her; we would ensure all British businesses remain
in British ownership, no more the 49% of any business being allowed to
fall into foreign hands.
FOREIGN POLICY
– For our own interests alone!
Our foreign
policy must be independent and our national interests only. We will
withdraw from treaties detrimental to Britain, and only support other
countries internationally when it is clearly within Britain’s best
interests to do so. Our armed forces do not exist to police the world,
and we will not engage in ‘peace-keeping’ missions that pay for other
countries’ incompetence at government with the blood of our soldiers. We
regret Britain’s involvement in the illegal invasion of Iraq, and would
not involve ourselves in the political mess that is the Middle East,
regardless of pressures from the USA, Europe or elsewhere. We believe
our armed forces must be kept strong and effective should the need for
defence arise; we will reverse the chronic under-funding of defence seen
in recent years, and undo the abolition of county regiments and
politically-correct red tape stifling our forces; but under no account
should our servicemen die as effectively mercenaries for foreign
governments, as we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan.
LOCAL
GOVERNMENT – Real local democracy!
The faith
people have in local government in evident by the pathetic percentage of
those eligible to vote who actually bother to do so. We will give new
life to local councils, from parish to county level, by giving them far
more extensive powers to improve the lives of local people. Too many
town halls at present are little more than talking shops and it is no
surprise that the majority do not bother to vote in local elections. We
will institute a system of local referenda, binding on councils, that
must be held on any given issue when a (reasonably attainable, depending
on the size of the council’s area) number of petitions from local
residents have been collected. Under the Imperial Party, people will see
that they are able to change their local areas for the better, and they
will!
CONCLUSION
Britain
must rise from its knees and once again stand tall! In the past three
centuries we, as a nation, have achieved more than any other country in
the world. We must regain our position at the very apex of the world’s
rankings, for the spirit of enterprise, achievement and adventure is in
every one of us! We must safeguard and freedoms, both nationally and
internationally, and society’s health and the wellbeing of our every
citizen; we must protect ourselves from the stormy ravages of the world
economy, but maintain our competitiveness; we must, overall, let all
Britons work hand-in-hand with their country, whilst their country works
hand-in-hand with them. If you love your country and want to see Her
stand tall once again, join us!
